I aim to explore the Black American narrative from my unique perspective as a first generation Haitian-American. I am deeply inspired by Haiti’s complex, yet triumphant history; and am fascinated by the spiritual world that is interwoven into Haiti’s dance, music, language and culture. Therefore, I seek to tell stories about people of all cultures who struggle against oppression, or whose flaws or past traumas create seemingly insurmountable obstacles that they are determined to overcome. But first and foremost, my goal is always to tell compelling stories with characters that are universally relatable. I love a good laugh and I believe there is always light to be found, even in the darkest aspects of human nature.
